OUR MISSION
Joining God in the renewal of all things.
“I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”
And the one sitting on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new!”
– Revelation 21:3-5
God is addressing the brokenness in this world.
He’s bringing about a new day.
As people who have been rescued from sin and death by the love and mercy of God, we take seriously our call to join God in his ongoing work. He’s made us in his image, so that we can join him in his mission to address the brokenness in this world, and make all things new.
God has placed his creative and compassionate force within us.
We are people of calling and purpose.
We are recipients of God’s kindness and love — and we embrace our mission to not only receive those gifts, but also to distribute them to those around us. For the Glory of our King and the good of his creation, we are joining God in the renewal of all things.
OUR VISION
Walk with Jesus. Love your neighbor.
With a vision statement as big and broad as “Joining God in the Renewal of All Things”, we want to offer really clear and simple steps for how we go about accomplishing this. In a conversation with a religious leader in Luke 10, Jesus tells him that the fullness of life can be found by living out these two steps: walking with Jesus and loving your neighbor. This is how we actively live out the work of the Kingdom to renew everyone, everywhere. These two steps follow us on repeat throughout our entire spiritual journey. So what do we mean by them?
Walk with Jesus
We believe that walking with Jesus is a continuous journey of getting to know him and doing what he did. It means spending time reading about Jesus- from prophecies to his life on the earth, to how he established his kingdom by empowering his followers to continue his mission. We are the people of this kingdom! Therefore as we spend time with Jesus and learn about him, we will find that we have been empowered to do the things that he did- serving the oppressed, healing the sick, proclaiming freedom and deliverance.
Love Your Neighbor
We are devoted to living out the good news of the Kingdom of God wherever we are. It means that we believe that the work of the Kingdom is not limited to what happens on Sunday mornings or in a church building, but through the people of God in the world. So, as the people of Christ, filled with the good things of Christ, we show in the spaces of our lives where we live, work, learn and play as people on a mission of love for the sake of renewal.
OUR VALUES
Kingdom
God’s kingdom has come in the ministry of Jesus, and it will one day come in full when Christ returns and makes all things new. Until that day, we partner with the Holy Spirit to address the brokenness in this world–seeing his heart and power to heal, transform and renew the lives of people.
Formation
As we walk with Jesus in humility and obedience, He shapes and forms every part of us. Through prayer, Scripture, worship, community and other spiritual practices, we grow to be more like Jesus.
Mission
We seek to live as ordinary people on mission in our community. By loving our neighbors well, living generously, and pointing to Jesus, we hope to make disciples of Jesus wherever we go.
Simplicity
We are simple on purpose. What Jesus did, He could do anywhere, with anyone. We value simplicity in the things that we do because it is reproducible and accessible to all people.
Reconciliation
Jesus is reconciling us to God, to one another and to his creation. As ambassadors of Christ, we seek to be a diverse community of hope that demonstrates the power of the cross to heal in every avenue of life.
OUR PRAYER
Along with Our Vision, we’ve written a prayer that serves as our benediction at each service, and a VADE MECUM. For centuries many Christians have carried vade mecum—latin for ‘go with me’—which were short manuals filled with cherished words of instruction, texts, and prayers for easy reference… wisdom and truth that would accompany them on their journeys.
This prayer is our vade mecum. It’s a declaration of deeply held values that unite us and inspire us. And each week as we stand and speak these words in unison, we are challenged to take these truths and petitions to accompany us on our every journey.
Father, Son and Holy Spirit
You alone are King.
Give us wisdom, courage, and kindness
That we might bear your image well.
Unify us in heart, soul, and purpose
That the world might know your love.
Make us your hands: generous and compassionate.
Make us your feet: valiant and steady.
In service to you and all you’ve created,
Give us love greater than fear.
Onward for your Kingdom,
We’re declaring your worth,
Finding our worth in you,
And joining you in the renewal of all things.
Amen.
